Hereford breed


Hereford livestock is distinguished by its high weight gain rate, for a long period of time increasing the live weight without excessive fat. Nowadays it is the most widespread beef breed in the world. The meat of Hereford has high taste qualities.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a hornless type of Hereford was developed in the USA, which is becoming increasingly popular around the world nowadays.

AVERAGE DAILY WEIGHT GAIN OF BULL-CALVES ABOUT 1,000 GRAM

 

MEAT PRODUCTION BREED

  • The height of the bulls is 140-150 cm

  • The length of the body is 168 cm

  • Circumference of the chest is 223 cm

  • Live weight of full-grown bulls is about 800-900 kg

  • At the time of calving, the weight of bull-calves is 28-34 kg

  • Based on intensive feeding, the average daily weight gain of bull-calves average at 1,000-1,200 grams, but there are also examples of up to 2,000 grams weight gain per day

  • Slaughter yield of meat averages at 60-70%

  • Fat content in meat is 13%

  • Protein content in meat is 16.5%
